Advertisers have been ramping up their keyword blocking efforts. And while, everyone agrees that genuinely brand unsafe stories (violence, sex, hate, or adult content) should not be monetized, LGBTQ+ topics are often automatically included in that blocklist to protect brand safety. A shocking 73% of stories on LGBTQ websites are being flagged as unsafe for brands. Now, what if we made a coordinated effort to organize with each other in the LGBTQ+ community, so that we can re-write parts of the algorithm to be fair and inclusive?
